Going Live on Different Platforms

Good morning everyone and welcome to this weeks Midweek Wednesday blog. I hope you have all had an amazing week and are looking forward to the next week.

This weeks blog is going to be about going live on Facebook and Instagram or even TikTok.

We all know that phrase "People buy from People" so what better way for your customer and clients to get to know you better and know your business better than meeting the person behind the business.

There are a few ways you can do this depending on your business will depend on which ideas will work. However for all businesses that has a presence on social media what better way to connect with your customers and clients than to go live or do videos.

There are 4 main platforms where you can go live and start to show your audience who you are more in the flash.

These social media platforms are:

- Facebook

- Instagram

- YouTube

- TikTok

Facebook:

For Facebook you don't need anything specific you can just go live. With these you can go live on your profile, pages and groups as well so you don't have to go live on your main profile if you don't want to. Generally when people go live on this platforms it tends to be to information purposes, part of a course or a game show or to showcase more products, services etc.

With Instagram the only way currently to go live is via Mobile and is not currently available on Desktop version.

But on the App you need to go to the +, drop down

Then pop in the details using the icons on the left

YouTube:

For YouTube you do need to activate the live access on your account which can take up to 24 hours to activate before you can go live on YouTube directly.

Details on how to go live on tube: (information copied from youtube directly: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2474026)

1. Enable live streaming

To live stream, you need to have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and you need to verify your channel.

Computer AndroidiPhone & iPad

  1. Go to YouTube.

  2. From the top right, click Create Go live.

  3. If you haven't already, follow the prompts to verify your channel.

  4. Enabling your first live stream may take up to 24 hours. Once enabled, you can live stream instantly.

2. Choose a way to stream

There are three types of streams: mobile, webcam and encoder. Choose the one that's best for what you're streaming.

What you can stream

All content in live streams must adhere to our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. If you suggest that you'll live stream content that violates our Community Guidelines, we may age-restrict or remove your live stream. YouTube also reserves the right to restrict a creator's ability to live stream at its discretion.

If your live stream is restricted, you may get a strike on your account. A strike will prevent you from live streaming for 14 days. If your account has been restricted from live streaming, you're prohibited from using another channel to live stream on YouTube. This policy applies for as long as the restriction remains active on your account. Violation of this restriction is considered circumvention under our Terms of Service and may result in termination of your account.

TikTok:

For TikTok you need to have 1k followers before you get the access to go live. So the best idea with TikTok is to build your following up first then you can start going live. Which in a way is a good thing as you can get your interactions going before you go live and start with the more human touch. I generally find the small businesses on TikTok that can go live do tend to build up a bigger following and generate more sales as they have spent the time getting to know you and your business, then once live they gain even more and you also appear to a lot more people as well.

To Go Live:

You need to press the + button, scroll down or across to Go Live

Press Go Live

Then you're live

Extra Information:

With all of the platforms please be mindful on what content you show and share and make sure you're sticking to all the community guidelines, be sure to familiarise yourself with these before you start going live as you don't want to loose your access as soon as you've started over something so simple.

When you go live be sure to share across your platforms that you are going live, that way people can come and join you when your live. If you are wanting to do it regularly then set yourself day/s and times that works for you and stick to it each week.

For example a very good friend of mine goes live every Monday and Friday at 4pm, so all their regular followers all know on those days at that time they will be live on Facebook.

I hope all this information makes sense and you know feel a bit more confident to take an extra step in to going live on different platforms and how they all work.

I'll be back next week with my next Midweek Wednesday blog. Have an awesome week.

Always remember you're stronger than you believe
