Dance Fitness

January.. the month everyone decides to try again in their fitness and health journey.


I’ve been there too and I actually did restart my fitness journey in January as I fell off in December fitness has always been a huge part of my life, I’ve been dancing since I was 3 so I’ve always been quite active.



When I was 15 I discovered a youtuber called ‘Blogilates’, her workouts were Pilate based workouts which were amazing for me as a dancer as it was a great way to strengthen my muscles.


After doing her for a couple of months I moved on to more “intense” workouts using weights and found I loved that so that’s what I stuck to doing alongside my dancing.


However, one youtuber introduced me to dance fitness workouts - it combine two of my favourite things so I loved them!


Dance is such an amazing way to keep fit, it engages soo many muscles, it gets your heart pumping and it gets you moving in a fun way! Why wouldn’t you want to do it?



As well as keeping you for physically it also helps mentally. If I’m having a bad day and I get up and dance I instantly feel better! And when I’m in a dance class I never feel low, I’m surrounded by people who want to learn just like me - it’s amazing the sense of community that you end up forming! Dancing actually releases endorphins which can help reduce tension and stress.


Even if you’re doing an hour a week it’s going to help you!

It’s also a good way to get exercise in if you’re looking for low impact alternatives, dance is so inclusive it can be modified to suit anyone's needs so don’t think you need to be jumping around the room to feel the benefits because you really don’t have too!!


Find a class near you or online and try one - I can guarantee you will feel so much better after it!
